FusionReactor has long been a powerful tool for peering inside the “black box” of ColdFusion, Java, and Lucy. However, applications rely on various technologies in today’s complex, distributed environments. We’re excited to highlight how FusionReactor extends its capabilities through OpenTelemetry (OTEL) and other integrations.
Gaining a Unified View
In a recent webinar, our Customer Success Manager, Graeme Smith demonstrated how FusionReactor Cloud can now ingest telemetry data from other services, such as MySQL databases. Using an OTEL agent, you can bring in data directly from MySQL and view it alongside your CF, Java, and application error information, all within the same dashboard. This provides a truly unified view of your entire technology stack.
“What I can do is take telemetry data directly from MySQL. So within the same pane of glass if you like that I’m looking at, CF, Java, my errors, what’s happening from the environment. I can also look at what’s happening with MySQL database,”
Expanding Horizons: Kubernetes and Beyond
Our commitment to integration goes beyond databases. We also support Kubernetes, which allows you to monitor and analyze your containerized environments. This will let you see how your system’s components—from the application code to the underlying infrastructure—work together.
The integrations don’t stop there. We’re constantly working to add support for more technologies, giving you a single place to view all the information you need to understand your environment’s performance.
Server Health Monitoring
One exciting integration is server health monitoring. Although Graeme demonstrated on his laptop, he showed how FusionReactor can provide insights into the server’s physical health, including resource usage, disk usage, and process counts.
“What you can see from here is the server’s physical health. What resources am I using? What’s the disk usage, how many processes am I trying to throw at it?”
This, combined with the logical application performance data, gives you a complete picture of your server’s status.
The Power of OpenTelemetry
It’s important to note that the OTEL agent used for these integrations is not a FusionReactor agent. Graeme clarified, “With the OTEL, it brings in certain bits of information. We cannot charge for that agent. So if you add it in, all it would do is send us telemetry, and you can view it within the dashboarding screens.” This makes extending FusionReactor’s monitoring capabilities to other parts of your infrastructure easy and cost-effective.
Key Takeaways:
- FusionReactor Cloud now integrates with a broader range of technologies using OpenTelemetry.
- Gain a unified view of your entire technology stack, including databases, Kubernetes, and server health.
- The OTEL agent is separate and does not incur additional charges.
- These integrations enhance FusionReactor’s monitoring capabilities, providing deeper insights into system performance.
By embracing integrations and OpenTelemetry, FusionReactor is evolving to meet the demands of modern application environments. It provides the comprehensive visibility you need to ensure optimal performance.
